Gentlemen, when you meet someone at one of our networking events at a bar, introduce yourself and start the conversation with some chit-chat. Offer to buy her a drink if she doesn’t already have one, or if she already has one, you can offer to get her a new one. It is the easiest way to make a good first impression because it shows you’re considerate and paying attention.

Ladies have a choice. You can accept the drink and continue chatting with him, or decline his offer. Either choice is fine. Just know that if you take the drink, you will probably spend a few more minutes chatting with him while waiting for the drink. If you don’t think he’s your type, you can just say, “No, thanks. I’m fine.” If you’re at one of our networking parties, chances are he is a nice, sincere guy. If you don’t want to reject him, you can say you’re driving, or you’re cutting back. And you can continue the conversation if you like.
